Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Recruiting

Diversity in healthcare is a crucial and multifaceted aspect that encompasses a range of dimensions including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, cultural background, persons with disabilities and more. We at WesternU understand that inclusive healthcare environments play a role in reducing health disparities. For this reason, we empower access for systemically excluded and disproportionately affected groups by connecting you with diverse healthcare professionals and current students who are a part of your group to build a sense of community. Connecting with other individuals who were once in your shoes, helps to ease the anxiety of navigating the admissions process. We hope to be of service to you as you embark on your journey into your graduate health professions program.

Building Relationships

Building strong relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and community organizations is at the forefront of the work that we do in recruitment. We host events and one-on-one advising for students to encourage a sense of belonging on our campus.

Upcoming DEI Recruitment Events

Diversity and inclusion events are an opportunity for us to help our students feel seen, valued and respected. These activities and events are safe spaces to learn, engage in conversation and highlight resources to help you fulfill your goals in the health professions.

  • Forum for Diversity in Health Professions Programs

Saturday, March 2 at 1:50 PM Pacific Standard Time

Join us for an informal, complimentary lunch on our Pomona campus, where we’ll be bringing together prospective and current students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the health professions for conversation and connection. Attendees will break out into small groups based on their program of interest, and will be joined by current students who will share insight on their journey to graduate school, experiences with WesternU and the profession, plans for the future, and more! Organized by the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the Office of Admissions, this lunch is designed for prospective students who are underrepresented in health care, to support them on their journey to a health professions program. Space is limited, so register today!
