Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) research at WesternU is grounded in core osteopathic principles with an emphasis on the interrelationship between structure and function and the body’s ability to self-regulate. Our studies aim to understand how hands-on treatments influence physiological processes, improve patient outcomes, and support the body’s natural ability to heal.
Our clinicians and scientists work together to investigate the effectiveness of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) across various conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, immune function, and systemic health. Key research areas include the role of OMT in enhancing lymphatic flow, modulating inflammatory responses, and promoting whole-person care.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration and ongoing clinical trials, our researchers are strengthening the evidence base for OMT and osteopathic practice. Learn more about our research and clinical trials at: https://research.westernu.edu/omm-research
