EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH
This field seeks to enhance educational practices through evidence-based methods, fostering improved learning environments and increasing both student and patient engagement.
At WesternU, educational research spans a wide range of topics related to medication utilization, prescribing patterns, patient education, treatment adherence, and the effects of gender bias on disease and medication use. Our focus on evidence-based medicine and outcomes research informs innovative teaching and assessment methods, ultimately enhancing the education of future healthcare professionals.
Of note, the WesternU Veterinary Summer Research Program (VSRP), a collaborative effort between the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Office of Research and Biotechnology, provides veterinary students with meaningful research experiences during the summer months. Supported in part by Boehringer Ingelheim, the VSRP also focuses on drug policy and interprofessional education and practice, equipping students with the skills necessary for effective collaboration in their future careers.
