Dr. Briza Brooks, OD, FAAO earned her Bachelor of Science degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona before moving across the country to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from New England College of Optometry.Following graduation, she began her career at Western University of Health Sciences as the inaugural resident in Low Vision and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation. She pursued this residency to deepen her expertise in low vision care while also gaining advanced training in neuro-optometry and rehabilitative strategies.Dr. Brooks continued her professional journey at Western University as an Assistant Professor. During her tenure, she has also been credentialed at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare and California Rehabilitation Institute, where she participates in interdisciplinary patient care and rehabilitation services. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.Outside of her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Brooks is actively involved in organized optometry, including the Inland Empire Optometric Society, the California Optometric Association, and multiple optometric and rehabilitation-focused organizations.
