Dr. Erin McMullen is a board-certified specialist in neurologic physical therapy who transitioned from clinic to academia in 2023 to become the Director of the Practical Applications Lab and to assist in the neurology series at WesternU. She graduated with a BS in both Biology and Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University, and with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha Nebraska. Her clinical background includes work in both an in-patient rehabilitation facility on the Stroke and Spinal cord injury teams, as well as in an outpatient neurology PT clinic with a focus on vestibular rehabilitation and on treatment for people with Parkinson’s Disease. Her work at the university also includes being chair of the community engagement committee, vice chair of the curriculum committee, and represents faculty on the Academic Senate. Her research is focused on high intensity gait training in people with neurological disorders, with a goal to improve clinical application of therapeutic techniques. She has loved being a part of the PALs lab, especially due to the interaction of the students and community volunteers in a simulated clinical environment and is always excited to see the students grow in their confidence over the three years.
