WHAT INSPIRES ME
There is so much to gain from observing those who have failed many times and continue to push through. It's admirable to see students who have failed an exam or faced rejections from a job they really wanted, only to pass or get the role the second time around because they never stopped trying. I’m also inspired by people who aren’t afraid to be themselves. In a world that pushes us to assimilate, I turn to the black sheep as motivation to live my life as authentically as possible. Self-comparison is real, but we are deeply unique individuals and cannot truly compare ourselves to someone else unless they are clone copies of ourselves. We are our own competition. And if doomscrolling has been good for one thing (don't worry, I’m working on limiting my usage) it’s the idea that we need to romanticize life, both the amazing and the not so much. Everything is an opportunity, and every moment is a lesson.
WELLBEING
MIND –
Our minds are so powerful, we are truly capable of amazing things! But the very same thoughts which carry us throughout day-to-day life also have the potential to become our worst enemies. When life gets rough or I need a pick-me-up in the morning, I enjoy listening to positive affirmations. My favorite YouTube channel for this is called “Wake Me Up”. At night, I engage in breathing exercises and body scans to release the tension I am holding from the top of my head to the tips of my toes.
BODY –
I am the type of person who will wake up at five in the morning to lift and then get FOMO when I hear that my friends are going to work out in the evenings... even though I already got my work out in. If I could, I would probably live at my gym and sleep next to the free weight section. When I’m not at the gym, I’m on my
walking pad or taking an evening walk with my parents to reach my step goal for the day. I also love to dance, so never challenge me on Just Dance, I will win...
SELF –
Slowing down is important to me and my nervous system. Sometimes that means driving in the slow lane. Other days, that might look like strolling through random aisles at the grocery store instead of rushing straight to the item that I need.
As a creative, I love artists with funky sounding beats and lyrical prose. My favorites include Glass Animals and Gorillaz. I’m also really into instrumental music from video games or movie soundtracks. Any song from the game Super Mario Galaxy is truly out of this world and I am absolutely in love with the tracks from the film, Interstellar (or anything by Hans Zimmer, honestly).
SOCIAL –
Prior to undergrad, I was an ENFP through and through. Now? I’m an INFP. After a particularly long weekend of socializing I will definitely be out of commission for at least a month, though I am definitely trying to put myself out there more. I love a good board game, and high stakes as it is, Uno is my favorite. Catching up with friends over shared meals is always welcome. My friends and I love Korean BBQ. A basket of bread rolls with cinnamon honey butter from Texas Roadhouse hates to see us coming!
Overall, I am a firm believer in protecting my peace and being selective about who I give my energy to. My circle of friends is small, but I am all about quality over quantity.
INTERESTS/HOBBIES
I love shopping a little too much. My favorite part about it is hunting for special deals. I wouldn’t consider myself a gamer, but I do love playing on my Nintendo Switch; Pokemon, Kirby, and Stardew Valley are my favorites. I have also recently been addicted to LinkedIn games like Mini Sudoku and Zip. My record on Zip is 4 seconds! I grew up on Sailor Moon and enjoy watching all kinds of anime.
Some of my other favorite things include fall as a season, going on nature hikes, trying new foods, finding sneaky ways to include more fiber and protein in my meals, and adding to my jewelry collection.
