After earning his DVM degree, Dr. Kim has extensive teaching experience in his native Korea. He began teaching in the United States at Western University, leading PBL classes for three years before continuing his training in small animal surgery. In 2017, Dr. Kim rejoined the faculty of Western University, bringing his wealth of experience. He has been the Course Leader for Small Animal Practice II at the Western University Pet Health Center, providing hands-on training for 3rd-year veterinary students. Furthermore, He is an Instructor for the Laparoscopic Training Program, designed to equip practicing veterinarians and veterinary students with theoretical and practical knowledge.

My philosophy is that wisdom lies not in answers, but in questions. In life, it is essential to continually challenge ourselves with difficult questions, as it is only through inquiry that we can gain true understanding and knowledge. This is because answers may provide temporary solutions to problems, but by exploring the questions that lie beneath, we can gain a deeper, more meaningful insight into any given situation. By questioning and reevaluating our beliefs and assumptions, we can more accurately assess our own understanding, and strive to make progress in our lives.

Dr. Kim research focuses on the clinical application of minimally invasive surgery, capsule endoscopy, and newly developed biomedical devices. He has a strong background in the fields of small animal emergency and trauma surgery, which allows him to approach his research from a multidisciplinary perspective. He also has a keen interest in the use of capsule endoscopy and its potential applications in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. He is dedicated to furthering the understanding of the applications of minimally invasive surgery and newly developed biomedical devices. He is passionate about pushing the boundaries of medical technology to improve the quality of life for small animal patients. He is eager to continue his research in these fields.

Dr. Kim just loves being outdoors. Whenever he has some free time, he takes his bike out on the trails in Southern California and enjoys the stunning views of the mountains and amazing parks. He finds biking to be a great way to de-stress and the more difficult trails give him a real rush!
