Master of Science in Nursing

Take your nursing career to the next level by earning your Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN/FNP) or Master of Science in Nursing/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MSN/PMHNP) degree. Designed for BSN-prepared nurses, our hybrid NP programs combine online coursework with two virtual seminar weekends per semester, one on-campus seminar weekend each year, and clinical experiences in students’ local communities. Students can complete the MSN/FNP or MSN/PMHNP in two years, with extended-track options available.

Post-Master’s Certificate Programs

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

Our hybrid Post-Masters FNP program delivers the knowledge and skills to prepare you for your FNP certification. FNPs provide primary healthcare to patients of all ages and walks of life with an emphasis on disease prevention and health management.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Our hybrid Post-Masters PMHNP program delivers the knowledge and skills to prepare you for your PMHNP certification. PMHNPs meet the mental health needs of their clients through interdisciplinary and team-based care.

Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP)

Our hybrid ENP Certificate program (2 semesters) delivers the knowledge and skills to prepare nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) who wish to work in the subspecialty areas of Urgent Care or Emergency Department settings.

Post-MSN Certificates

The College of Graduate Nursing at WesternU pioneered the delivery of a web-based family nurse practitioner program – the very first of its kind at the time of its inception in 1997. We offer stipends or loan forgiveness for some of the programs and the majority of the work is done online.
