Artificial Intelligence Literacy Professional Learning Community

Artificial Intelligence is already influencing how we teach, learn, work, and navigate through everyday life, whether we intend it to or not. To support our campus in navigating this shift thoughtfully and confidently, we are excited to announce the launch of CETL’s first-ever AI Literacy Professional Learning Community.

This cohort-based Professional Learning Community (PLC) is designed for faculty and staff who want to move beyond surface-level awareness of AI and develop the knowledge and skills to use it responsibly, effectively, and fluently in their roles.

How does the PLC work?

  • Participants will join a cross-functional cohort of faculty and staff as they complete modules in a NEW AI Literacy course
  • Each month, participants will complete one module of the course
  • The PLC will meet virtually three times, once per module (i.e., April, May, and June) — See Tentative Schedule Below
  • Discussion board questions, activities, and prompts will be optionally available during the module timeframe
  • PLC sessions will focus on discussion, reflection, and applied learning
  • Participants who complete the program, participate in virtual sessions, and complete the final project will receive a certificate of completion

AI Literacy Course Modules

  • Module 1: AI Fundamentals (Understand)
Recognize what AI is, what it is not, its limitations, and where it is already being used in our lives.
  • Module 2: AI Evaluation & Responsible Application (Evaluate & Apply)
Explore bias, ethical considerations, and responsible use of AI in academic and professional contexts.
  • Module 3: AI Fluency (Create)
Apply best practices to use AI tools confidently and purposefully — including practical generation and workflow integration. Project to be completed at the end of this module.

Why Participate?

This learning community is designed to help participants:

  • Build foundational understanding of AI
  • Make informed decisions about AI use in teaching and learning
  • Develop practical fluency grounded in best practices
  • Learn alongside colleagues across disciplines and roles
