Advanced Nursing Practice Career with Growing Demand
Nearly 1 out of 6 California adults and 1 out of 13 California children struggle with mental health issues. The state of California is experiencing a shortage of providers to care for psychiatric patients. We can address this need with psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners address the clients through inter-disciplinary and team-based care that places the patient and family at the center of care. PMHNPs help patients by providing therapies, medications, care coordination and more.
At WesternU, we pioneered hybrid education for nurse practitioners more than 25 years ago. That tradition continues today as we use an evidence-based approach to educate PMHNPs to meet the mental health needs of clients in school systems, community clinics, substance abuse treatment centers, private offices, shelters, hospitals, and more.
