CANCER BIOLOGY

Cancer Biology is the study of the cellular, molecular, and genetic mechanisms that drive the development and progression of cancer. Our scientists aim to understand how normal cells transform into malignant ones and seeks to discover strategies for early detection, prevention, and treatment. At WesternU, we apply cell and molecular biology to investigate cancers such as breast, prostate, and ovarian. We also focus on identifying therapeutic gene targets, understanding drug resistance mechanisms, and exploring innovative treatments, such as engineering T and NK cells with chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) to enhance cancer immunotherapy.
