University Council

In an effort to establish a forum for on-going dynamic dialogue, I am in the process of forming a University Council which will function as a vibrant medium for collaborative, purposeful, and transparent discussion and input on University matters. It is important that the members of this Council reflect the varied groups within our campus community. See the proposed composition of this group below.

The University Council is a 23 constituent advisory body designed to develop, nurture and facilitate collaborative, innovative, inclusive and transparent input and dialogue on University-wide matters. The guiding focus of this group is WesternU’s mission, vision, and its commitment to the academic success of WesternU students.

  • Academic Senate (up to three representatives)
  • Dean’s Council (up to two representatives)
  • Staff Council (up to three representatives)
  • Student Government Association (up to two representatives)
  • University Executive Operations Team (up to three representatives)

University Officers:

  • President
  • Provost
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Chief Financial Officer

Clinical Areas:

  • WesternU Health (one representative)
  • WesternU Pet Health (one representative)

Other Core Institutional Roles:

  • Vice President for Humanism, Equity and Anti-Racism
  • Senior Vice President, Research and Biotechnology
  • Senior Vice President, Student Affairs

Vision

I want to express my heartfelt enthusiasm to have joined the WesternU family and to realize our dreams together! A heartfelt “Thank you” for all that you do for the University and for your patients, and for the sacrifices you have made, particularly over the past two years. I would like to share some preliminary thoughts regarding my vision for WesternU.

Emerging Vision

  • Embarking on a transformative mission as we transition to a mature University
  • Building upon a culture of inclusivity and shared governance and empowering the voices of all constituents
  • Operationalizing the University with an efficient organizational structure to better serve our students, faculty, staff, and our extended WesternU community
  • Expanding the WesternU footprint nationally and garner support/partnerships based upon the unifying principles of humanism, caring, compassion, and patient-centered and value-based care in graduate higher education

Expanded Vision

  • Educate and train community-minded WesternU specialists, physicians, and health care providers
  • Promote our WesternU brand to focus on the patient as an individual unit — the whole body, mind, and spirit
  • Catapult WesternU to the national and international recognition, appreciation, and acclaim that it so deserves
