Heather McDaniel has been instrumental for more than a decade in a unique program, Tools of the Trade, that provides incoming WesternU osteopathic medical students with a medical bag filled with messages from community sponsors in Lebanon, Oregon, and the state’s larger osteopathic community. The McDaniel Lab of Medical Anatomical Research at WesternU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest is named in honor of her husband, James David “Jim” McDaniel, who died in 2015.
