About the Scholarship

The WesternU Board of Trustees Scholarship was established to help recruit students from lower socio-economic backgrounds into the University’s graduate health education programs. The Trustee Scholarship provides significant financial assistance for students who might otherwise find it difficult or impossible to successfully pursue graduate study in the health professions. Students from various backgrounds and lived experiences who aspire to the health education professions are especially encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

Applicants must document a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 from their undergraduate coursework and provide evidence of financial need. Through the application, students must demonstrate their leadership, service too, and engagement with economically disadvantaged and/or health challenged communities.

For recipients to renew their scholarship award each semester, they must maintain good academic standing on their path to graduation, participate in scholarship program events, curricular/co- curricular opportunities (e.g., periodic Trustee Scholars meetings, as well as academic support, preparation, tutoring, well-being, social, community, and networking events), and mentor subsequent scholarship recipients.

All WesternU applicants who are U.S. Citizens, Legal Permanent Residents, Refugee, Asylee, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in the U.S. are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants in F and J visa categories are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

How to Apply

Prospective students with a completed application to a degree-seeking WesternU program, and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above will automatically receive an invitation to apply. Those who are invited to apply can submit a scholarship application even if they have not been admitted to a WesternU program; however, only admitted students will ultimately be selected to receive the scholarship.

Scholarship Application Deadline

Completed applications are due by 11:30 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), on Friday, March 27, 2026. We will need to receive all required documentation for your scholarship application to be considered.
