Students arrange summer opportunities through the Global Health Club that will be supervised and coordinated by a clinical faculty member. Students and faculty will follow guidelines established by the DGCH, Student Affairs, and Risk Management. This summer, Global Health Club will have International Outreach to two countries:

In Peru, they will partner with the organization MEDLIFE to provide medications and help build important community development projects for low-income families residing in villages near Lima, Peru. In addition, they will be organizing age and gender specific educational programs that will empower the families on various relevant health topics. -Keval Patel D.O 2018

This summer, Global Health Club is pioneering its first ever medical mission to rural Vietnam in efforts to reach out to Vietnam’s most underserved communities. The club will be working in partnership with Aid to Children Without Parents (ACWP), a well-established nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for Vietnam’s impoverished population. The medical mission will comprise of free mobile clinic services to villagers in rural areas of Vietnam where WesternU students will work alongside Vietnamese physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to provide medical screening services and free medication. Additionally, WesternU students will run public health classes in order to teach villagers about preventative measures against prevalent diseases of their region. The goal is to provide WesternU students with the opportunity to gain insight about healthcare from a global perspective, to allow them to cultivate a deep sensitivity and appreciation for different cultures, and to empower them to envision their role and the role of all future health care professionals in shaping the future of global health. -Duy-Hoa Huynh D.O 2018
