Glass Horse and Glass Dog

What is it?

Glass Horse and Glass Dog are anatomy apps that allow users to explore interactive models. There is a limit of 18 simultaneous seats per app. 

Glass Horse: Elements of the Equine Distal Limb (iDistalLimb WesternU)

“An engaging interactive exploration of the equine distal limb that combines interactive models with narrations and highly informative animations” (source).

Glass Horse: Equine Colic (iColic WesternU)

“This program features a comprehensive exploration of the equine abdominal anatomy, the veterinarian’s approach to diagnosis, and detailed 3-D animations depicting 28 diseases of the gastrointestinal tract” (source). 

Glass Dog: Thorax and Abdomen (iCanine WesternU)

 “The program includes 10 cutting edge animated movies, nearly 50 interactive models, and more than 250 detailed images, each with its own recorded narrative” (source). 


How do I access the programs?

Library computers: Available on the 2nd and 3rd floor library computers

Online access (VetMed only)

Requirements: Use a computer with the Citrix client installed (recommended). If not installed, you will be prompted to install after you login. You may use an HTML 5 browser if you decide not to install the Citrix client.


  1. Go to https://access.westernu.edu
  2. Log in with your WesternU username (without @westernu.edu) and password
  3. If prompted, install the Citrix client (recommended)
  4. To access the app for the first time:
    1. On the left side of the screen, click on the + icon
    2. From the top, Click on All Apps
    3. Select the app: iCanine, iColic, iDistalLimb. This will move the app to the main screen.
    4. Close the Tools dialog box
  5. Select the app icon on the main screen to open
  6. Click on Login
  7. When you are done using the program, make sure to click on Quit to release the seat (there is a limit of 18 simultaneous seats per app
