AVMA/AVMF 2nd Opportunity Veterinary Scholars Program

Program Mission

The AVMA/AVMF 2nd Opportunity Summer Research Scholarship is intended to provide support for students who have previously conducted a summer research project and are seeking to gain a second summer of research experience.  Ideally, student applicants would be continuing their prior research project but that is not an absolute requirement.

Expectations and support:

Each scholar receives a research scholarship of $5,000 plus $1,000 to supplement travel expenses to the BI-NIH symposium. Scholars must be fully engaged in research for the duration of the program. Scholars are expected to attend all group training opportunities offered by the program and present a poster at the National Scholars-symposium meeting hosted by Tufts University at Worcester State University on July 25-28, 2019. Registration fees, travel costs and poster preparation will be covered.

Students Eligibility:

Students must have previously conducted a summer research project. They should be currently enrolled, and in good academic standing at their University. Students must commit to attending all training opportunities, including the BI-NIH Symposium.
