Fitness Benefits Options For Students:

COMP-Northwest students, you have three fitness benefit options! Only one option per student and benefits are evaluated annually and are subject to change.

How to Join:

Purchase your student membership using CashNet via the YouPortal:

  1. Expand the ‘Student Finance’ section of the ‘Quick Links’
  2. Click ‘View/Pay my Student Account’
  3. Select ‘Click Here to Pay Balance’
  4. Add the SamFit membership to your cart (only one purchase per student) and pay for your purchase.
  5. USA will e-mail you August 1st with activation information.  
  6. See below if you also want to purchase a membership for a family member.

Cost:

 $225.00 per year

SamFit’s offer to WesternU Students: 

  • Deadline to join is September 1st 
  • No enrollment or activation fees
  • Free access card upon enrollment 
  • Free new member consult, wellness-life coaching consult, dietitian consult
  • Up to a 15% discount on all additional services (e.g. personal training, nutrition/health coaching)
  • Discounted Annual health risk assessments – (available as part of the Wellness Package purchase)
  • Free unlimited access to the onsite health, wellness & fitness educational sessions
  • Free unlimited access to select group exercise classes (SamCircuit, SamCore, SamCircuit Express and SamFlex)
  • Free access to Albany SamFit racquetball courts, saunas and classes
  • 24/7/365 access to all SamFit facilities ( including Newport, Corvallis, Lebanon, Albany, etc.)

Family Add-On:

 Once your SamFit membership is active you may add family members to your account.  Family memberships may not be charged to your student account.

Speak to your SamFit representative about adding a family member

  • 1st Family Add-on: $15.00/month*
  • Additional Family Add-ons: $10.00/month*
  • *Must live with the student and be at least 16 years of age.

Option #2: Learn more about a Reimbursement for a non-SamFit Fitness Membership

The University may reimburse up to $100.00/year for a membership to any commercial fitness facility OTHER than SamFit.  There are two options listed below and depending on how you pay/paid for your membership you may be eligible to receive a reimbursement. Some gyms offer a discount to WesternU students – please see below for additional locations that are eligible for reimbursement.

How do you pay for your non-SamFit Membership?

To qualify for this reimbursement for the 2018-2019 Academic Year with a prepaid membership you must:

Complete the reimbursement request form and submit original documentation showing the membership is:

  • In your name (the student)

  • Paid in full

  • Active for the full academic year (at least 10 months between July 1 and June 30)

To qualify for this reimbursement for the 2018-2019 Academic Year with a month-to-month membership you must:

Complete the reimbursement request form and submit documentation showing:

  • The membership is your name (the student)

  • You’ve paid 10 consecutive months of dues

  • The 10 months of dues were paid during this academic year (July 1 – June 30)

Acceptable forms of proof include a financial history report from your gym (preferred) or copies of your bank or credit card statement (block out any personal information other than your name and the specific charge showing the name of the health/fitness club).

If you choose to enroll with one of the following gyms, please follow the directions listed under “Option 2” above to be eligible for a reimbursement from the University. For more information on these gyms, visit our Discounts page or contact the gyms directly.

LA Fitness*

Will you be on rotations during the upcoming academic year? If so, a membership to LA Fitness might be right for you. Please visit our Pomona Fitness page for student membership options and prices.

*Note: This membership is not eligible for reimbursement because the rates are already subsidized by the University.
